Brianne Robinson, BMSc 2016
Current Program: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Dalhousie University, Class of 2020
Degrees Held: Bachelor of Medical Science - Honors Specialization in Pathology and Toxicology
Future Goals: I am excited to continue my studies at Dalhousie and soon to become a Clinician. Since I am not certain which specialty I want to pursue at this current stage of my training, I am looking forward to continuing to expand my clinical exposure, while exploring my new city!
Why I chose the BMSc Program: The Opportunities!! With a general introduction to the basic sciences, the BMSc program provides the chance to explore the different disciplines in science, with the opportunity to ultimately select a more specialized path. This aligned with my interests and provided me the ability to tailor my education to fit my future goals.
How did my BMSc degree prepare me for my future goals? The ability to complete my BMSc degree, while incorporating undergraduate research as a Scholar’s Elective student and a 12-month Science Internship allowed me to graduate as a well-round student with the skills and academic background to enter medical school.
What inspired me to pursue an advanced degree or this career: Western helped me to realize I am a life-long learner with a strong passion for my community, and after exploring industry and research throughout my undergraduate degree, I was confident Medicine is where I fit.
Favourite Western memory: Finally winning a coveted Purple Shirt in inner tube water-polo after 10 consecutive seasons!
Best thing about being a student at Western: You are a Mustang! Joining the Western community is an incredible feeling as there is a place for everyone. The academic community is incredibly supportive, the extracurricular environment is extremely diverse and the community partnerships are rich. You will be able to leave your mark on the Western community!
Advice to students considering Western: Talk to Western Students!! Past or present, talking directly to students is a great way to get all your questions answered about student life.
