Award: Douglas Jones recognized as Science Ambassador
Congratulations to Douglas Jones, PhD, who has been named as the 2018 Ronald G. Calhoun Science Ambassador Award recipient from Partners In Research, a national organization committed to improving communication to the general public on the benefits of medical and health research.
The award recognizes a member of the community who has provided outstanding leadership over several years in support of health research.
Jones has been a long-time member of the Partners In Research National Board and is currently finishing his tenure as Past President. He is the first person to receive both a research and lay award from Partners In Research Canada after having received the Biomedical Science Ambassador Award in 2002.
The Award recognizes his dedication to Partners In Research as a board member, as well as a promoter, fundraiser and educational outreach participant.
The Award is named in honour of Dr. Ronald G. Calhoun, the first Executive Director of Partners In Research.
“I truly appreciate the Award, particularly as it bears Ron Calhoun’s name. He is a remarkable Canadian, a committed and deeply involved individual. He was intimately involved with Jessie’s Journey, the Rick Hanson’s Man in Motion Tour, and Cancer Canada for so many years as well as the first Executive Director of Partners In Research,” said Jones. “He has been recognized for his Charitable work by the Province of Ontario through its Order of Ontario and by Western through his receipt of an Honorary Degree.”
Jones will be presented with his award at the Partners In Research National Awards ceremony held in May.
